Why CBD Oil Should Be In Your Medicine Cabinet

Why You Should Have CBD Oil In Your Medicine Cabinet

Our bodies naturally respond to injury or illness initially with inflammation. Bug bites? Colds? Arthritis? Broken bones? Well, inflammation is a response to all of those! Think of inflammation as a first-responder of the immune system.

However, on any given day we do things that stunt this immune and healing response or lead it into an ongoing and chronic response that is damaging. For example, many of us rely on synthetic anti-inflammatories to get through our days for a variety of reasons from a simple headache to chronic sore joints and muscles. By definition, these stop the inflammatory response.

We are used to reaching for NSAIDs for immediate relief. But NSAIDs are not an ideal long term solution to chronic pain. NSAIDs have been shown to have negative long term effects if taken too often, such as “an increased risk of gastrointestinal complications ranging from stomach pain to ulcers.”

Today we are going to talk about other natural anti-inflammatory solutions you can reach for.

Natural Anti-Inflammatories Dr. Meredith Warner Trusts

Dr. Meredith Warner, Orthopedic Surgeon, and Well Theory’s founder, believes in a scientific approach to natural medicine as well as surgical medicine.

Studies have shown that the use of Magnesium oxide, zinc, quercetin, oak bark extract, curcumin (turmeric), oak bark extract, PEA (Palmitoylethanolamide), and CBD (Cannabidiol) all work with our body to reduce any damaging chronic inflammatory responses.

This is why we have implemented these ingredients into a number of Well Theory’s products.

Inflammation after injury or infection is a good thing, but chronic inflammation is not. Natural anti-inflammatories have a much better profile with regard to controlling damaging chronic inflammation while allowing for short-term beneficial inflammation to treat injury or infection.

One of our most popular items is our CBD Oil Tincture with Broad Spectrum CBD. CBD reduces inflammation by engaging the endocannabinoid system.

CBD enhances your own endocannabinoid system by attaching to CB2 cells that are found in the immune system and regulate the body’s inflammatory response and pain receptors.

A Part Of Your Daily Routine

When you add a natural anti-inflammatory product like Well Theory’s CBD Oil Tincture to your daily routine, you are giving your body an extra boost to help you manage not just your pain but also your mood!

Well Theory’s CBD Oil Tincture contains just 2 high-quality ingredients: Broad Spectrum CBD and MCT Coconut Oil.

Are you ready to experience the natural anti-inflammatory effects of CBD today? Take control of your pain today!

What You Need To Know About Traveling With CBD

What You Need To Know About Traveling With CBD

Our CBD products are easy to work into your daily routine – but your routine will shift while traveling. If you have a flight or a road trip coming up, here’s what you need to know about traveling with CBD – and which products we recommend you take with you.

Legal Concerns:

how to travel with CBD safely

Hemp-derived CBD that has a THC content below 0.3% is legal in all 50 states thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill. The FDA still has reservations about how CBD can be used in certain supplements, cosmetics, foods, etc., but CBD in and of itself is legal.

All of our CBD products have less than 0.3% THC content, so they are legal on the federal level. However, each state within the US has its laws regarding CBD’s legality, its use, cultivation, distribution, and more.

Most states align with federal regulations. However, a few states still have full or partial regulations regarding the purchase of CBD products. It’s essential to check the local regulations in the place you’re going to. Some states require that you have a diagnosed medical condition and a note from your doctor. Others have few, if any, restrictions at all. You can view laws on a state-by-state basis here.

You can legally fly with CBD in your carry-on luggage alongside medical marijuana – just be sure to check the laws in the state you’re traveling to:

“Marijuana and certain cannabis-infused products, including some Cannabidiol (CBD) oil, remain illegal under federal law, except for products that contain no more than 0.3 percent THC on a dry weight basis or that are approved by FDA. (See the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, Pub. L. 115-334.) TSA officers are required to report any suspected violations of law to local, state, or federal authorities.” Transportation Security Administration (TSA) guidelines

If you’re traveling internationally, it’s up to you to determine whether or not CBD is legal in the country you’re visiting. You should be able to fly domestically with no issue – as long as your CBD product stays within 3.4 oz or less.

How To Pick The Right CBD Products To Travel With

Not all CBD is extracted from hemp. CBD can be extracted from marijuana. If you’re going on a road trip or flying domestically, you’ll want to take CBD with you as long as it’s only extracted from hemp.

To be extra cautious, you can bring your products certificate of analysis with you. Reputable CBD brands will have COA’s available for download.

If you are pulled aside by the TSA for additional questioning at the airport, having this paperwork on hand will speed the process.

You can find our Certificates of Analysis on each of our product pages.

Since airports have a restriction on liquids, but there are no restrictions for vitamins, it may be better for you to bring CBD with you in pill form. Our CBD Multivitamin and CBD Softgels are both excellent, hassle-free options for travel. If you’re used to taking CBD Oil, try our Softgels instead so you don’t run the risk of spills as your toiletries bag gets jostled in the car or overhead luggage compartment.

CBD Spray Lotion for Pain Relief with Lidocaine + Menthol + CBD Isolate (30g)

Our Well Theory products are all designed to fit into your everyday routines seamlessly – and are easy to take with you on the go.

You can also try out our CBD Spray Lotion for an easy + convenient option for on-the-go pain relief!

Dr. Warner’s Well Theory Self-Care Routine

Dr. Warner's Well Theory Self-Care Routine

Hi, Dr. Meredith Warner Here –

As an orthopedic surgeon, I lead a pretty active lifestyle – seeing patients, developing new Well Theory products, and more. This means that when I engage in self-care, it has to be both an intentional choice and fit seamlessly into my often-hectic lifestyle.

I think that most of us probably struggle with balancing work, life’s many difficulties, and a well-rounded self-care routine – so I’ve decided to share what my usual, daily self-care routine looks like, so you can get a few ideas to incorporate into your day as well.

Morning Self-Care Routine

My mornings usually start early. Generally, I’ll try to get some light exercise in, like a few sun salutations, then move on to breakfast and my supplement regimen. I truly believe in the importance of taking a good, well-rounded multivitamin. I do my best to eat nutritious meals so most of my key vitamin intake comes from the food I eat, but to ensure I’m not missing out on key vitamins and minerals, I reach for one of my multivitamins.

My CBD Multi contains clinically high doses of vitamins I always recommend to my patients. I decided to develop this multi based on the recommendations I have always made to my surgical patients during their pre-op and post-op consultations. The best way to prepare for surgery is to make sure your body is primed to heal efficiently and quickly – and the best way to ensure that happens is through proper nutrition.

This multi contains Vitamins C, D3, Zinc, Magnesium, and others to support healthy immune function, bone regrowth, healthy joints, and more. It also contains Full Spectrum hemp-derived CBD powder for an added anti-inflammatory and antioxidant boost.

My PEA Multi Is another great option for your daily multivitamin intake. It too is a source of high-potency vitamins and minerals – and contains PEA for anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, and neuroprotective benefits.

PEA (palmitoylethanolamide) also stimulates the endocannabinoid system.

When I choose to take the PEA Multi, I’ll usually also add a few drops of my CBD Oil Tincture to a morning smoothie to get that added boost of CBD, as I’ve found it to be beneficial.

All of my products have zero THC or below the threshold for industrial hemp (0.3% total).

Afternoon Self-Care Routine

After my day begins, it’s usually nonstop until I get home. As a surgeon, I work a lot with my hands – in the actual operating room, typing up patient records, etc. I’m also on my feet most of the day, so I’ll usually experience a little soreness in my hands, wrists, and feet. Surgeons are particularly prone to neck pain.

I’ve found my CBD Spray Lotion to be beneficial throughout my day. When I notice that my fingers hurt from working on legions of medical records, or I have a chance to sit down and feel some soreness in my ankles from standing on my feet most of the morning, it’s easy to spray the lotion exactly where it hurts, and because of the Lidocaine and Menthol, the relief is instant.

And I know that throughout the day, the blend of essential oils and CBD Isolate in the formulation will work to continue relieving my pain as the day goes on.

Evening Self-Care Routine

As I wind down for the day, I make a conscious effort to put away glowing screens and relax. My eyeglasses are all blue-blocking; that is they all block the harmful spectrum of light called ‘blue’. The right amount of sleep, and the right quality of sleep, are essential parts of maintaining your overall well-being.

If you’re wondering what new habit you should undertake to start improving your health, getting better sleep is absolutely where I recommend starting. When you wake up with more energy, you’ll be able to start new routines later – good sleep should be the foundation of your wellness routine.

To ensure that I get restful sleep, I usually use these three products:

First, these CBD Softgels are a great option for ensuring restful sleep. They provide a convenient way to get a standard dose of CBD – these softgels are easy to take and are tasteless, so you can take them right before bed. CBD has long been known to be a great stress reliever and relaxation agent. Additionally, it is one of nature’s most powerful antioxidants; the brain can only detoxify during sleep, why not enhance that function?

My Pain Relief + Recovery Cream has become my go-to pain reliever at the end of the day. This cream is designed to be used anywhere where there’s soreness – elbows, knees, shoulders, neck, and more. I’ve found that it’s helped relieve tension and ensures that I don’t have too much trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. This is especially helpful for my neck soreness that happens when I forget to do yoga!

For the massive antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, I take tart cherry (1500mg) each night also. I take this to protect my brain and nerves, general wellness, and optimal aging.

Tart cherry extract is extremely beneficial for general wellness and is an excellent source of pain relief for those with arthritis.

Adapting My Self-Care Routine:

Sometimes, it becomes essential to adapt your self-care routine as your daily schedule changes – or even as the seasons change. When the cold and flu season rolls around, I add in the Herbal Immunity Defense multi to help boost my immune system and restore its function – to give my body a fighting chance against viruses and allergies. I am a front-line health care worker, so I also take a flu vaccine every year.

During the winter months, I also tend to struggle with my energy levels as the days get shorter. In addition to taking one of my multivitamins, which are both high in vitamin D for better energy in the morning, I’ll make sure to add more CBD into my evening routine to ensure restful sleep – so I can wake up feeling more refreshed.

It’s important to leave room for growth and change when starting new habits. Give yourself grace if you miss out on exercising one day, have a cheat meal, or forget to take your vitamins. Investing in your overall wellness means investing in the whole of your being – mental, physical, emotional, and even spiritual – so be kind to yourself.

Which Well Theory Topical Cream Is Right For You

Which Well Theory Topical Cream Is Right For You

The Well Theory's Buyer's Guide:

pain-relieving topical creams

At Well Theory, we offer several products that you can use to incorporate natural pain relief, reduced inflammation, and better overall wellness practices into your daily routines. We believe in building up foundational health, and providing supplementation for things like pain relief, sleep aids, and more.

Generally, we recommend starting your wellness routine with a well-rounded multivitamin. Our new PEA Multivitamin is a great option for establishing nutritional health with an added anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving boost. This multi contains clinically significant doses of essential vitamins and mineral cofactors like magnesium, calcium, vitamins C & D3, and more to give your body the building blocks it needs to effectively rest, adapt, and recover.

Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) is added to provide an essential fatty acid amide for anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects.

But even with the right nutrition, joint and muscle aches are common. If you suffer from a condition like arthritis, type a lot on the computer for work and experience pain in your wrists and hands, or are on your feet for most of the day – muscle, bone, and joint aches are inevitable.

There are things you can do to relieve these common aches, however – and we’d like to share a few options for natural relief with you today.

The Differences Between Our Topical Creams

All of our creams are formulated by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Meredith Warner with natural pain relief and long-term benefits in mind. She sees people in pain every single day and most of them do not want to and should not take pain pills. She has found that there are not many safe and effective topical options that work to reduce pain available by prescription or over the counter. Dr. Warner, therefore, developed her products to fill this clinical gap.

This means that, while our creams provide relief at the application site almost immediately, they are also designed with specialized ingredients to lessen overall inflammation over time. The phytochemicals in the creams were selected due to their pro-healing, anti-microbial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties; these will not just mask pain, but help the body to actively recover over time.

Our Foot Cream is ideal for those suffering from painful conditions affecting the foot and ankle – such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles Tendinitis, Morton’s neuroma, arthritis, etc. This cream is made with a custom blend of essential oils, PEA, Lidocaine & Menthol. PEA is a natural anti-inflammatory – it’s the chemical your body produces whenever you get injured to promote recovery.

PEA (palmitoylethanolamide) is a natural fatty acid amide product that is present everywhere in the body – our supplements enhance its ability to promote healing. When combined with the essential oils, this ingredient gently removes lingering inflammation, while Lidocaine & Menthol cool and numb the site of application for immediate relief from pain.

Our new Pain Relief + Recovery Cream is formulated with PEA and Menthol for fast and long-lasting anti-inflammatory support. This cream is also formulated with Turmeric & Rosehip oil to promote healing of surface irritation, reduce scarring, and hydrate + protect the skin.

A proprietary blend of essential oils also helps relieve pain and inflammation, reduce oxidative stress, and allow for more natural healing while offering subtle aromatherapeutic benefits.

This cream can be used anywhere you’re experiencing pain – or wherever you’d like to prevent pain. This formulation is also ideal for those looking to reduce the appearance of scars while soothing inflammation in the muscles and joints throughout the body. We recommend applying it after a workout for faster recovery from muscle soreness! (These topical products are not meant for mucus membranes of course.)

Our CBD Cream can be applied externally anywhere you’re experiencing pain. This unique formula harnesses pure CBD Isolate for natural, plant-based relief from stubborn aches and inflammation. CBD engages your body’s regulatory, or endocannabinoid, system to block pain receptors and calm your inflammatory response – so you have just the right amount of inflammation to help you heal, but not too much. CBD is also one of nature’s most powerful antioxidants.

This soothing CBD body lotion with all-natural essential oils, Lidocaine, Menthol and CBD isolate to help reduce pain on contact and lessen your body’s inflammation response at its source.

It comes in a convenient spray bottle so you can take pain relief on the go!

At Well Theory, we believe that you should have complete control over your lifestyle and overall well-being. This is why we offer an array of lifestyle-enhancing products – to give you many options to choose from as you enhance your wellness journey.

Natural Sources Of PEA

Natural Sources Of PEA

What Is PEA (Palmitoylethanolamide)?

PEA is a natural fatty acid compound that has been found in various clinical trials to modulate pain and mood receptors in your body’s natural regulatory, or endocannabinoid, system. This makes it a great modulator of pain, inflammation, and mood, regulating more balanced stress response.

Pain and inflammation are normal parts of your body’s recovery processes. If you injure yourself, the subsequent pain and inflammation protect the injury site to prevent further damage.

PEA works directly on PPAR receptors in your endocannabinoid system. These are a group of cellular receptors that are involved in your body’s pain and inflammatory pathways. Your body naturally produces PEA to help your body recover from pain and inflammation. Still, when your body doesn’t produce enough PEA, you can experience prolonged pain and inflammation that does more harm than good.

Other Sources Of PEA

PEA can be found in a variety of foods: It is located in egg yolks. The anti-inflammatory and immune-enhancing effects were discovered in 1939 during a study of underprivileged children; those who received PEA from egg yolks had no rheumatic fever recurrence despite repeated attacks of hemolytic strep infections. Soybeans, alfalfa, and peanuts are also excellent sources of PEA.

It’s also possible to supplement with PEA. We decided to include PEA in our Essential Multivitamin and topical creams for its potent anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, and analgesic properties. We utilized micronized, and ultra micronized PEA to allow for better absorption.

The Essential Multivitamin reduces inflammation by giving you a high-potency source of vitamins and nutrients that are commonly missed in the modern diet. This enables your body to regulate its responses naturally – but we also added PEA to the formulation to give this multi an added boost.

Why You Should Supplement With PEA

Taking PEA to supplement your body’s shortage of essential healthy fatty acids and fatty acid products is a great way to regulate inflammation naturally. PEA is also neuroprotective, making it an excellent resource for controlling the symptoms of conditions such as diabetic neuropathy, sciatic pain, low-back pain, and other conditions such as multiple sclerosis. PEA has also been shown to support eye health.

There are no known adverse side effects of PEA supplementation. Even if you aren’t actively suffering from nerve pain – PEA is neuroprotective, which means that it can help protect your nervous system from future damage that occurs as you age. PEA generally reduces inflammation that is harmful while supporting helpful inflammatory responses against pathogens.

If you are currently taking medication for chronic pain or inflammatory disorder, PEA has been shown in some preliminary research to enhance the medication’s effect naturally. There are no known clinically significant interactions with medications.

You can also use PEA topically to relieve muscle, joint, and ligament pain at the application site. We formulated our new Pain Relief + Recovery Cream with PEA, Menthol, Turmeric, and other natural botanicals to both immediately cool and relieved topical pain and slowly melt away recurring inflammation over time.

Health Issues You Will Experience In Your 30’s And Beyond

Health Issues You Will Experience In Your 30's And Beyond + How To Avoid Them

Aging sure does its number on our bodies! If only we aged as beautifully as wines and did not have to worry about our bodies starting to fall apart.

As we transition into our 30s, there are health issues that we are at a higher risk of experiencing – as the list of health issues only gets longer as we continue to age.

“My goal is to help people age better, age fitter, and enjoy their old age. We’re all going to get old. You can’t stop that

Meredith Warner, MD

Weight Gain

Several factors can contribute to a sudden increase in weight. Statistically, as we age, we are doing less physical activity compared to when we were younger. That, in turn, reduces our muscle mass while increasing excess fat in our bodies. Our metabolisms start to slow down. For women, this can be fast-tracked when menopause hits.

For both men and women, hormones that normally promote lean body mass are also decreased with aging.

Skeletal Health Concerns

With age also comes a weaker skeleton. As our bodies grow older, they begin to reabsorb old bone tissue at a much faster rate than our bodies can create new tissue.

This condition is osteoporosis, which can lead to an increase in bone fractures and breaks. Osteoporosis is not exclusive to women, men get this too. Also, if you receive steroid injections or take steroids, you may have osteoporosis too.

Arthritis is also another common condition that affects the joints in our bodies.

Our joints are naturally cushioned by a combination of fluid and cartilage that, as we age, wears down to the point that our bones are scraping against one another.

Arthritis usually starts in the fingers, wrists, knees, and hips.

Arthritis is due to a combination of genetics and chronic inflammation from lifestyle and environment. The constant attack of inflammation on our joints and bones results in conditions like arthritis.

Heart Disease

Our circulatory system is one of the hardest working systems in our body. The heart is at the center of its operation.

The heart pumps, on average, 100,000 times a day to process what would amount to 2,000 gallons of blood every day. No - we do not have that much blood in our bodies. Our heart is working nonstop to recirculate the 1.5 gallons that we do have.

But the heart is like every other muscle in our body. It can get weak and strained too. When this happens, it can lead to heart attacks or strokes, especially if you already have problems with your blood pressure or cholesterol levels, which play a large role in the heart’s health.

Read More: How Vitamin C May Reverse Heart Disease

Diabetes

In the United States, more than 25% of people over the age of 60 have diabetes. While diabetes can develop at any age, the risk increases with age. Even more are believed to have pre-diabetes.

Diabetes is a serious health condition that develops when your body becomes unable to regulate levels of glucose in your blood.

Unmanaged diabetes can lead to deterioration in the eyes, kidneys, nervous system, and increase the risk of heart diseases.

Weakened Immune System

Immune systems naturally weaken as we age, thus making common colds and the flu easier to catch and can result in deadlier complications such as pneumonia.

Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs that causes inflammation and fluid build-up in the alveoli, air sacks, in your lungs.

Recovery from pneumonia gets harder the older you get.

Many immunity dysfunctions of the elderly are due to nutritional depletion. Because of this, it is essential to supplement needed vitamins and minerals.

Take Preventative Measures

safeguard your health as you age

You can prepare your body for old age by compensating for the natural deficiencies and deterioration that occurs with aging by maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Make sure to get a proper amount of exercise and maintain a healthy diet.

The best way to prepare your body for aging is to add a multivitamin supplement to your daily routine. Our Advanced Connective Tissue Support Multivitamin with PEA, Vitamin C, and more contains clinical-strength vitamins to help support your health as you age.

Our CBD Multivitamin is also a great option to support your body’s ability to manage bone health, muscle strength, and improve immune function.

This multi also contains high-potency sources of essential vitamins and minerals – with Broad Spectrum CBD for an added anti-inflammatory boost!

Why You Should Be Using Rosehip Oil

Why You Should Be Using Rosehip Oil

Rosehip Oil:

anti-aging and anti-oxidative

Rosehip oil often fades into the background in crowded makeup or pharmacy aisles. Oils like jojoba, argan, coconut oil and others are more well-known for their skin-healing or clarifying properties, but don’t count rosehip oil out simply because it is rarer. It’s a great, versatile option for skincare – especially as we’re moving into dryer and colder months.

First, rosehip oil is naturally moisturizing and has powerful anti-aging properties. It has a high level of Vitamin C, which gives the oil a concentrated anti-aging effect. Vitamin C is an antioxidant and can protect + repair UV damage while assisting in reducing wrinkles.

Basically the concentrated levels of Vitamin C in rosehips provide a good scavenging platform to remove damaging free radicals from your skin. Rosehip oil is also rich in carotenoids, which, similar to Vitamin A, are involved in regulating skin turnover – which can lead to a more even and brighter complexion. Rosehip oil has a lot of Vitamin A, therefore it is basically a natural retinoid.

Read More: How Vitamin C Improves Immune Function

Retinoids such as all-trans retinoic acid also assist in brightening skin appearance. It lightens pigments within the skin and also speeds up skin cell turnover and maturation, which gives you a fresher, more youthful appearance..

How To Use Rosehip Oil

Rosehip oil can be directly applied to the face, chest, shoulders, etc. – anywhere you could use an anti-aging lift. It’s a light oil, but goes a long way, so start with a drop or two and go from there.

You can either use three or more drops warmed in the palm of your hand alone, or add a drop or two to your regular moisturizer.

This oil is antifungal and antibacterial, so don’t worry too much about it clogging your pores and causing a breakout. In fact, the same retinoids that produce high skin turnover are similar to Retin-A, which reduces the likelihood of buildup forming in your pores. The anti-inflammatory effects of rosehip oil can also calm inflammation-related cysts and acne as well.

Beyond Aesthetics:

how rosehip oil can improve your well-being

Rosehip oil (or as it’s sometimes labelled, Rosehip Seed Oil) has a high concentration of oleic, linoleic, alpha-linolenic acids alongside carotenoids and tocopherol. These compounds make rosehip oil naturally anti-inflammatory and can assist in reducing oxidative stress.

It has also been shown in a 2019 study to help reduce the appearance of scarring. It does so by stimulating macrophages to shift out of a chronic inflammation mode and promoting good healing, as opposed to a state that results in poor healing and more pronounced scar formation. It has also been used effectively to reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

Rosehip oil is one of many natural, plant-based remedies that you can use to improve your overall well-being. At Well Theory, we believe in the potential of natural remedies, combined with cutting-edge medical research, in improving your life, health, mental well-being, and more.

This is why we decided to formulate one of our newest products – our Pain Relief + Recovery Cream – with rosehip oil.

Dr. Warner’s new pain relief body cream helps relax and recover myofascial tissues, improve the range of motion of ligaments and muscles and cool away the pain with the deep, penetrating power of PEA, anti-inflammatory Essential Oils, and Menthol.

This new product is ideal for recovery after exercise, daily inflammation and antioxidant support, and soothing inflamed muscles.
