How CBD Relieves Stress & Anxiety

Stress is a very common experience that all of us have experienced at some point in our lives. When you’re in the middle of a stressful situation, it can be difficult to figure out what to do to relieve your anxiety.

One of the best ways to relieve stress is to avoid it in the first place. Here’s why including CBD in your daily wellness routine can help you relieve anxiety and go about your day with less stress.

How CBD Works

CBD has long been known as a natural stress and anxiety reliever – but how does it accomplish these benefits?

CBD is one of the many compounds found in cannabis satvia plants. This species of plants includes the marijuana plant and the industrial hemp plant. THC, the psychoactive compound found in marijuana, is different from CBD, as CBD has no psychoactive effects.

Most, if not all CBD products are extracted from the industrial hemp plant. Hemp contains far more CBD and far less THC than its cousin, the marijuana plant. So you can rest assured that CBD extracted from the hemp plant, like our Well Theory products, will not get you “high.”

In recent years, CBD has been studied for its effectiveness as a remedy for a number of medical conditions, such as anxiety, depression, chronic pain and inflammation, epilepsy, and more.

CBD works by engaging your body’s endocannabinoid system. This is your body’s regulatory system, which controls inflammation levels, your sensation of pain, appetite, mood, and more.

The Science Behind Stress

When you’re under stress, your body’s receptors stimulate the production and release of cortisol. Cortisol by itself is actually an anti-inflammatory hormone, and is released to help lower stress levels – keeping your stress response in check. However, over time, cortisol can actually lead to inflammation – as your body gets used to heightened cortisol levels, your stress and inflammation response gets out of balance.

CBD is able to alter and interact with CB1 and CB2 receptors. These receptors are mostly found in the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system.

CBD exerts a balancing effect on these receptors, and studies have found that it may also help calm cortisol release while also affecting serotonin levels. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that directly affects your mental health. Low serotonin levels are most commonly associated with people who have depression.

If you’re interested in trying CBD, our CBD Softgels are a great choice. These softgels contain only pure Full Spectrum CBD in an easy-to-take, fast-absorbing softgel capsule.

This supplement gives you a standard dose of CBD every time, so you can begin supplementing with confidence.
