What CBD Products Are Right For You?
There are different forms of CBD (supplements, balms, drops, sprays), different needs they fulfill (pain relief, anxiety relief), and it is good to understand how to incorporate them into your wellness routines and schedule.
CBD is the non-psychoactive compound found in the plant. All industrial hemp-derived CBD products on the market are allowed to have no more than 0.3% (trace amounts) of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
CBD supplements are available most commonly in capsule and softgel pills. CBD supplements are available with CBD as the only active ingredient or in combination with other active ingredients.
Different States allow for different formulations. CBD supplements on average will take about 1-2 hours to dissolve and take effect in the body.
Supplement dosages do range depending on the size and pill form. Some supplements may have a daily serving size of 1 pill or several pills to be taken once or twice daily.
Make sure to read the nutritional label carefully before taking it! As always, we recommend that you discuss this plant-based remedy with your prescribing physician if you have questions about interactions with other medications.
Topical CBD products can come in balms, creams, and lotions. CBD can penetrate the dermal and subdermal layers of the skin when combined with appropriate carrier oils for targeted relief from pain. Many topical CBD products are used by those with chronic pain or inflammatory conditions.
An added benefit from most topical CBD products is that they also are helpful with your skincare. Topical CBD also has the potential to help relieve the symptoms of “eczema and psoriasis, says Samantha Morrison, a cannabis researcher at Glacier Wellness, a CBD company in Cedarhurst, New York.
CBD creams are easy to carry with you throughout your day to apply as needed. Make sure you pay attention to the instructions for each topical CBD product you use. Some may specify if there is a limit to how often it should be used during a single day.
CBD oil and tinctures combine CBD with one or more edible carrier oils. The most common carrier oils are coconut oil, MCT oil (medium chain triglyceride), vegetable glycerin, and hemp seed oil. You may find that some of these oils and tinctures are flavored with natural or artificial flavors and some are not.
CBD Oils and Tinctures are typically considered to be the most potent form of CBD you can find on the market. They are absorbed by the body easier and faster than a supplement of CBD.
CBD Oils can be measured more precisely and can be taken in dosages catering to your own body weight and goals.
Some CBD oils can be taken both orally and topically. Just make sure to read the directions of the oil or tincture you have of course!
