Easy + Natural Ways To Reduce Spider Veins

Reduce Spider Vein Appearance

at home & without a doctor's visit

Spider veins are typically more an aesthetic concern than a medical concern as they are painless and do not result in complications that would require medical attention. However, spider veins can impact the way you feel about your appearance, which can affect your mental health. If you have spider veins and would like to reduce their appearance, keep reading for some natural options available to you.

How Do Spider Veins Form?

reduce the likelihood of their formation

Spider veins are a network of visible, small veins that rise to the surface of the skin and appear in a network of “spider-like” groupings, thus the name. They can be red or blue in color – and can form in small groupings of one or two veins or spread out over a large area of your skin.

They are most commonly found in the legs and thighs – more or less consolidated to your lower extremities. Gravity is the reason for this. There are many factors that influence the formation of spider veins, including:

  • Family history
  • Hormonal fluctuations during pregnancy
  • Sudden weight gain or weight loss
  • Smoking
  • Too much sun exposure
  • Trauma to the surface of the skin
  • Oxidative damage to the structure of the small blood vessels

While family history is possibly the most influencing factor in the formation of spider veins, you can address the other factors by staying out of the sun, avoiding skin injury, and maintaining a stable weight. Also, by controlling the amount of chronic inflammation that attacks your mind and body you can limit the oxidative damage to the blood vessels.

Your at-home Spider Vein Treatment options

Spider vein treatments in an aesthetic clinical setting can be expensive and even painful. Techniques like vein stripping or sclerotherapy are necessary at times of course. However, if you’re looking for a way to reduce the appearance of spider veins naturally at home to save money and try a more natural option before resorting to needles, try these options instead:

Essential Oils. Essential oils are a great way to safely reduce the appearance of spider veins. Some oils known to be effective against reducing the appearance of varicose or spider veins are Grapevine oil, Yarrow oil, and Lavender oil. When trying out essential oils, be sure to test them in an inconspicuous area, and use a carrier oil to dilute it, such as jojoba oil, coconut oil, almond oil, or others.

Pair these essential oils with a short massage to further reduce spider vein appearance.

Apple Cider Vinegar is thought to improve your body’s blood circulation, possibly reducing the formation of new spider veins.

At this time, there is no evidence that applying apple cider vinegar topically can reduce spider vein appearance - and we would not recommend applying it topically if you have sensitive skin especially. Instead, pour a teaspoon or two into a salad dressing to boost your circulatory system.

Exercise and compression garments. Compression socks, calf and ankle sleeves and other wearables designed to compress the legs are very helpful. This is especially true for those who stand at work all day. In order to fight the load on the small blood vessels, the overall load of fluid in them must be reduced. Compression garments can do this for you.

Exercising allows the muscles of the legs to act as natural pumps to push blood out of the tissues and back to the heart. Without regular use of your leg muscles, blood will simply pool and sit and this expands the small vessels to the point of no return; this gives spider veins. Taking a walk with compression socks on is a very useful tool to help fight this problem yourself.

CBD. Cannabidiol works with your body’s natural regulatory system, the endocannabinoid system, to assist in reducing inflammation and restoring balance. Because of its anti-inflammatory effects, it may reduce or possibly prevent the appearance of future spider veins. CBD is massively anti-oxidant too.

CBD has taken both the medical and wellness communities by storm lately, as it is a highly effective, plant-based compound that has little to no side effects. CBD has even been used effectively in the treatment of epilepsy.

You can use CBD topically or take it internally in oil or pill form. At Well Theory, we offer a variety of CBD products for you to choose from – so you can find the right formulation for you.
