Warning Signs You’re Experiencing Too Much Stress

You May Be Experiencing Chronic Pain

Stress can manifest in a number of physical ailments – but pain is one of the most common.

Increased levels of the stress hormone cortisol can contribute to increased inflammation and pain. This study found that “Ultimately, a prolonged or exaggerated stress response may perpetuate cortisol dysfunction, widespread inflammation, and pain.”

In one study, 61 adults were administered the flu vaccine. Elevated cortisol levels indicate a poorly balanced autonomic nervous system and too much ‘fight’ in the ‘fight-or-flight’ system.

This creates a vicious cycle that can lead to other stress-related health issues.
