Common Supplements That Can Reduce Cold + Illness Severity

The Eastern Virginia Medical School and other healthcare organizations have released recommendations about a mix of readily available vitamins and supplements that may help manage respiratory illness symptoms.
It is important to note that they acknowledge that “there is very limited data (and none specific for COVID-19)” for the combinations.”
The school also recommends vitamin D3 (1,000-4,000 IU a day.)
They also recommend this combination alongside other supplements such as ivermectin and aspirin whenever you begin to show mild symptoms.
Vitamin C is powerfully antioxidant and vital to the healthy function of immune cells. It protects the body from free radicals, which can put a strain on the body as a whole and potentially impact the immune system.
A recent study demonstrated that when Vitamin C was administered to patients with acute respiratory distress symptoms experienced a decrease in their symptoms.
Quercetin, in preclinical studies, has been shown to have antiviral benefits. A Chinese study found that it reduced the ability for Coronavirus to infect other cells, but this will require further study to be proven.
Zinc is essential for the healthy development of immune cells. Some studies have even found that it reduces the risk of catching respiratory infections in the first place. It may also reduce the amount of time a patient experiences respiratory distress symptoms.
Melatonin is an often-overlooked supplement and most well-known for its ability to improve the duration and quality of sleep. However, this also means that it impacts immune health – as good rest is critical for enhancing and preserving immune function. Melatonin is also a flavonoid antioxidant.
