How Cannabinoids Help Release Tight Fascia

How Cannabinoids Help Release Tight Fascia

How Cannabinoids Work in Your Body

CBD and THC are both considered cannabinoids. Meaning, they regulate how cells communicate with each other by binding to specific receptors within your central nervous system. The cells to which they bind are part of the endocannabinoid system (inner-cannabinoid). The molecules of CBD and THC are the ligands that fit into the receptors of this system and cause change.

Through this communication system, cannabinoids help regulate different processes throughout your body – sleep, mood, appetite, memory, and more. The endocannabinoid system is found throughout the body and its receptors are some of the most plentiful.

Cannabinoids aren’t a foreign substance in your body that’s only introduced through use of THC or CBD. As described, your body produces its own, referred to as endocannabinoids.

These naturally occurring endocannabinoids work within your central nervous system through CB1 receptors, and in your peripheral nervous system through CB2 receptors. The receptors they bind is contingent on where they’re located in the body. There are other types of receptors involved, but the CB1 and CB2 are the most important to discuss here.

When the Endocannabinoid System is at work within your body, it’s linked to appetite, metabolism, reducing chronic pain, reducing inflammation, mood, learning and memory, motor control, sleep, bone growth and development, liver function, reproductive system, stress, and so much more.

Its influence throughout your entire body makes it a critical system in improving your health.

Cannabinoids Work With Fascia and Other Connective Tissue

So what do cannabinoids or endocannabinoids have to do with fascia?

Your fascia, as part of your connective tissue, is located throughout your entire body. It’s the casing that holds your organs, blood vessels, nerve fiber, and muscles into place. Fascia links us in long lines from head to toe. It also links us together from inside to outside. Then, there are various other connections in the planes between.

You can experience fascia pain when your hyaluronan dries up or decreases. Hyaluronan is the in-between substance that works between your layers of fascia to keep everything running smoothly. It is actually hyaluronic acid (HA), a molecule that retains moisture. The amount of moisture retained depends upon the molecular weight of that particular HA molecule.

When your fascia seizes up as a result of hyaluronan loss, it can cause muscle tightness, make it harder for you to move, or create knots. This is a source of what is called “myofascial” pain.

If you’re not physically active, you use the same parts of your body over and over again without rest, or you have surgery or an injury that damages one part of your body, you’re at risk for fascia pain. Actually, just the normal American lifestyle of chronic inflammation and oxidative stress will cause damage to fascia. Oftentimes, fascia pain is mistaken for muscle or joint pain because of its connection to the rest of your body.

If homeostasis is disrupted – your body’s endocannabinoids get to work. But, over time, endocannabinoids break down, or maybe your body isn’t able to produce enough to maintain these functions or provide pain relief.

That’s when cannabinoids like THC and CBD are able to help. THC binds to the receptors in your nervous system like endocannabinoids, providing a supplementation to your body’s naturally occurring processes.

Some studies show an increase in hyaluronan production and health from exposure to cannabinoids. Which can help release the tension and tightness associated with a loss of hyaluronan. Likewise, the pain signals to the brain from fascia with problems might be reduced by the cannabinoids’ effects on the nervous system.

Well Theory's CBD & Delta-8 THC

Dr. Warner has created several different THC and CBD supplements to help you find relief from fascia pain.

For topical solutions, you have the Delta-8 THC Cream that combines the powerful effects of Delta-8 THC with menthol and arnica. It provides a fast-acting pain relief that lowers inflammation and introduces cannabinoids right at the source.

The CBD Pain Relief Cream includes full-spectrum CBD, lidocaine, and menthol as its primary ingredients. It also targets your pain at the source in order to provide relief from aches, joint stiffness, or discomfort.

If you want daily support from CBD, Dr. Warner’s CBD Multivitamin is a great option – providing the pain-relieving effects of CBD with a spectrum of essential vitamins and minerals your body needs to keep functioning at its best. This multi was originally designed to support healing after surgery and the properties of the product will assist with connective tissue health.

CBD Softgels and CBD Oil is available for those who want to keep it simple with a single ingredient. The softgels are tasteless, while both forms promote easier and quicker digestion.

If you’d prefer your CBD or THC in a gummy – look no further than the Sleep + Repair Gummy that encourages wellness while you sleep.

The Delta-8 THC Gummy should also be taken toward the end of the day, or when you know you won’t be leaving the house again. Its inclusion of Delta-8 does have the potential to create a sense of euphoria that’s best practiced at home and not behind the wheel.

So, if you’re looking for fascia pain relief from CBD or THC – the question isn’t whether or not Well Theory provides options, but which supplement you’re going to choose. .

How Cortisol Works – And How CBD Decreases It

How Cortisol Works - And How CBD Decreases It

Female with Migraine

What is Cortisol?

Cortisol is a glucocorticoid hormone. Hormones are chemicals that carry messages through your blood to different parts of your body. These messages tell your body what and when to carry out its daily functioning.  Cortisol is often referred to as the ‘fight-or-flight’ hormone.

And glucocorticoid hormones are steroid hormones. They control inflammation, your metabolism, and sleep-wake cycles. They’re important for maintaining homeostasis in your body.  Cortisol is tightly regulated on a normal basis and is controlled by the circadian clocks found in the body.

Red Blood Cells

Cortisol specifically is referred to as the “stress hormone”. In response to stress, it contributes to a lot of bodily functions – regulating stress response, metabolism (how your body uses fats, proteins and carbs), controlling inflammation, regulating blood pressure and blood sugar, as well as responding to your circadian rhythm.

High Levels of Cortisol Can Bring Negative Side Effects

Your brain sends signals from your hypothalamus and pituitary gland to help regulate the cortisol levels produced by your adrenal glands.  This is an oversimplification of course.  The body has a very tightly regulated and controlled hormonal system of feedback loops and timed releases of hormones.  The brain must receive certain inputs to then produce an output that triggers more cortisol.  This can range from changes in breathing to light.

Having levels of cortisol that are considered too high or too low for extended periods of time can be harmful for your body.

Being stressed for too long can lead to higher levels of cortisol in your body for prolonged periods of time.  This includes mental and physical stressors.

Some symptoms of high cortisol levels include high blood pressure, high blood sugar, muscle weakness, weight gain, acne, thinning skin, fatigue, irritability, headaches and more.

Man Holding Muffin Top

If you’re experiencing these symptoms, you can have your cortisol levels checked at your doctor’s office.  Some physicians are not sure how to order such testing.  Make sure you find a physician knowledgeable in this area.  There are many natural ways to decrease your stress-related cortisol levels, including CBD.

CBD Decreases Cortisol Levels

CBD is a cannabinoid. Cannabinoids interact with receptors located throughout your central nervous system and body. They can help regulate those messages carried by hormones like cortisol throughout the rest of your body.  The endocannabinoid system is actually considered to be a regulatory system.

Because cortisol regulation can be assisted by CBD, this phytochemical can help lower cortisol levels and the side effects associated with it.  CBD will not treat a cortisol deficiency or disorder, but it has natural properties that can assist the overall regulatory system involved.

Dr. Warner offers several CBD products that can help with the regulation of cortisol levels, including her CBD Multivitamin.

It helps boost your immune system while providing relief from inflammation, stress and pain.

If you’d prefer to take only CBD, look no further than our CBD Softgels and CBD Oil Tincture – both promote pain relief, sleep support, while lowering inflammation and stress.

You don’t need to feel stressed all the time. It’ll only hurt you in the long run. Look no further than Dr. Warner’s CBD products to find the relief you deserve.

The Difference Between Broad and Full Spectrum CBD

The Difference Between Broad and Full Spectrum CBD

Cannabis Leaf

CBD can be extracted to make three different CBD extracts; Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, and CBD Isolate. Today we are going to talk about the difference between Full and Broad Spectrum CBD. These two extractions are very similar to each other and many factors may influence someone in choosing one over the other.

What Is Broad Spectrum CBD?

Broad Spectrum CBD is completely devoid of THC, the psychoactive element found in the cannabis plant. This extraction process retains all the terpenes and flavonoids found in the plant along with other cannabinoids found in the plant.  Although there is no THC in this product, it is still produced only from Industrial Hemp plants.

What Is Full Spectrum CBD?

Full Spectrum CBD contains several compounds of the cannabis plant, including trace amounts of THC. Products with Full Spectrum CBD are federally regulated and must contain less than 0.3% THC. Higher THC levels can be found in products in states where cannabis is legal.

Which One Is Right For You?

Neither Full nor Broad Spectrum CBD is better than the other. It will be up to you to decide which spectrum is right for you and your lifestyle.

Both spectrums offer the benefits of the entourage effect. The entourage effect is a term used when the components of the cannabis plant (cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids) interact with each other.

The only difference between the two CBD extractions is the presence of those trace THC amounts. If you are someone worried about drug testing, you will want to look for Broad Spectrum CBD products. The legal trace amounts of THC found in Full Spectrum products, in rare cases, can trigger a false positive in urinalysis.  If your HR department has a no tolerance policy, it is of course best to avoid these products all together unfortunately.

What Does The Well Theory Offer?

The Well Theory offers both Full Spectrum and Broad Spectrum CBD.

CBD And Your Brain Health

how CBD affects the endocannabinoid system

Did you know that CBD can improve your brain health? No? Well CBD molecules are attracted to receptors in your brain that can protect brain cells, and reduce anxiety, depression, stress, and even sleep!

The Endocannabinoid System

& how CBD uses it to improve brain health

Are you familiar with the Endocannabinoid system? You might not be.

The Endocannabinoid system is a collection of receptors and ligands (messengers that attach to the receptors) and enzymes in your nervous system and body.

Basically, it interacts with phytocannabinoids (plant-based cannabinoids) and endocannabinoids (human-based cannabinoids) that naturally occur in your body. The ECS functions to maintain homeostasis or balance.

CBD molecules attach to or modify the activity of the CB1 and CB2 protein receptors in your body. CB1 receptors are located in the central nervous system, inside the brain, and affect functions such as coordination, pain, emotions, and appetite.

CB2 receptors are found throughout the peripheral nervous system and on many cells in the immune system that affect inflammation and pain responses.

Taking CBD can help regulate these responses to reduce anxiety, depression, inflammation, and pain naturally with fewer side effects.

CBD is just a phytocannabinoid that exerts its effects on natural receptors of the ECS in the brain and body.

What Do We Mean By Improving Brain Health?

CBD is able to assist in reducing neuroinflammation, reducing oxidative stress, reducing excitotoxicity, promoting neurogenesis, and improving amygdala activity. These are some of the reasons it helps with brain health:

  • Neuroinflammation is linked to conditions such as depression, anxiety, Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, and epilepsy.
  • Oxidative stress occurs with natural free radical aging and can result in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
  • Excitotoxicity is a natural process of cell death triggered by overstimulated cell receptors that are related to stroke, traumatic brain injuries, and neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Neurogenesis is the process of new brain cell growth with the potential to positively affect memory, mood, and other cognitive functions.
  • Amygdala is a small section in the brain that processes emotions.

Should You Take CBD To Improve Your Brain Health?

You can also improve your brain health by taking Alpha-lipoic acid! ALA exists in the mitochondria in your cells in small amounts – and when taken as a supplement, supports oxidative health in the brain and throughout your entire nervous system.

Topical CBD: Man Applying cream to Face

CBD isn’t only available as supplements in pills and oil form. CBD products are also offered in a variety of topical creams and lotions!

CBD is just as effective when applied topically as it is when taken orally. The vehicle for CBD simply depends upon your precise needs.

Understanding The Science Behind CBD

Cannabidiol, more commonly referred to as CBD, is a derivative of the Cannabis sativa plant. CBD is the non-psychoactive compound found in the plant.

CBD products on the market are allowed to have 0.3% (trace amounts) of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive compound in the plant, to comply with legislation. Most CBD isolate products have absolutely no THC.

Topical Application: How It Works

CBD taken orally and topically has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and properties that reduce discomfort. Since CBD can penetrate the dermal and subdermal layers of the skin if combined with appropriate carrier oils and/or plant-based carriers, many people will gravitate towards topical applications of CBD for convenience and targeted applications.

There is also a thought that there are false positives during drug screenings occasionally with some oral products (if not third-party certified). Such possibilities are rarer for topical CBD products as any present THC is unlikely to reach the bloodstream.

That being said, if your product is from a USDA-regulated hemp crop then there is no legal way that there will be more than 0.3% regardless. All of our products are made with CBD extracted from the Industrial Hemp plant and fall within this range.

When the CBD is absorbed into the skin it begins interacting with the Endocannabinoid System.

This system has receptors that run through the entire body that help regulate homeostasis and controls things like hunger, mood, inflammation, etc.
