Turmeric: A Surprising Natural Remedy For Arthritis Pain

Part of our goal here at Well Theory is to help you find new ways to support your long-term health. While more aggressive medical interventions, like pharmaceuticals, surgeries, and more are necessary in some circumstances, our goal is to help you avoid them as much as possible by using natural solutions whenever possible.

Today, we’re looking at the star ingredient in our new Joint Health Multi and discussing its proven health benefits for joint pain and arthritis.

We want you to spend more time with your friends and families and engage in meaningful work and play and spend much less time at a doctor’s office. This is why Dr. Warner designed the Joint Health Multi.

What Is Turmeric?

Turmeric is a spice that is traditionally used in Indian cooking – it’s what gives curry its yellow color. It’s been used in India for thousands of years as a natural medicinal herb. In recent years, scientific studies have started to back up health claims attributed to this natural remedy.

Turmeric has been proven to be highly effective for the improvement and support of inflammatory and physically stressful conditions.

Turmeric is rich in compounds called curcuminoids – the most important and well-known of which is “curcumin.”

What Is Curcumin?

and what are its benefits?

Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric and largely responsible for its health benefits. Curcumin has powerful anti-inflammatory effects – and is a powerful natural antioxidant.

You likely aren’t going to get enough curcumin to make a difference just from using turmeric in your cooking. The curcumin content in turmeric isn’t that high – it’s around 3% by weight.

Most of the studies on the benefits of turmeric typically use turmeric extracts that contain a higher concentration of curcumin. The dosages in these studies typically exceed 1 gram a day - a difficult amount to get just from seasoning your food with turmeric.

Why You Should Supplement With Our Joint Health Multi

Our new Joint Health Multi contains 1000mg of turmeric root extract – which contains 95% curcuminoids. This multi contains a high concentration of curcumin at 739mg. This is a clinically relevant dose of curcumin and still allows for the entourage effect of the other curcuminoids in the extract.

Dr. Meredith Warner also carefully picked the other ingredients in this multi to maximize absorption effectiveness as well as meaningful clinical outcomes. Piperine, or black pepper extract, has many benefits of its own – it too has anti-inflammatory properties, but also may relieve nausea, headaches and poor digestion.

But the reason she selected piperine for this complex is due to the fact that it has been shown to maximize curcumin absorption and assist in reducing symptoms of joint damage.

In this study, it was shown that “piperine increased the bioavailability of curcumin by 2,000%.”

This unique formulation also includes ginger and PEA (palmitoylethanolamide – a natural fatty acid amide) for powerful anti inflammatory and antioxidant effects – making this supplement an excellent, natural option for relieving joint pain and preserving long-term joint health.
